Goodbye, hero, Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk, born on October 14, 1993, represented a model of a young man who was fond of life but did not hesitate to engage in the most difficult intellectual battles. He was distinguished by his courage in expressing convictions that often put him in direct conflict with the prevailing current. Since co-founding Turning Point USA at the age of eighteen, Kirk sought to entrench conservative and evangelical values in American universities and colleges. He was a bold voice who refused to back down from the principles he believed in, whether concerning domestic politics or international issues.

Among the causes Kirk strongly championed and passionately defended was his support for the State of Israel. Kirk was a staunch evangelical Christian supporter of Israel, believing this support was "standing with the right," rooted in his religious and political convictions. He saw Israel as a strategic, civilizational ally of the United States. Although he was a traditional supporter, recent information revealed a complexity in his stance, where he was grappling with pressures regarding US aid to Israel and warning the Israeli leadership about losing the "information war" among the younger generation. This complexity did not stem from a retreat from conviction, but from an insistence on honesty and transparency with his allies about how to maintain this "right" he believed in amidst changing currents.

However, the tragedy that ended his life—his assassination by a gunshot while speaking at a university campus event—clearly highlighted the heavy price anyone might pay for choosing to stand publicly and firmly with their positions in the midst of intense political polarization. Kirk paid with his life for his firm positions, both in his long-standing defense of Israel and in his recent struggles over the nature of that support. Regardless of people's assessment of his views, his sudden and violent death remains evidence that he remained committed to what he believed was "the right" until his final moment.

Charlie Kirk represents the case of a journalist and activist who was unafraid of confrontation or controversy. He was a man who loved life in his own way, but he loved his convictions even more. While some may debate the correctness of those convictions, no one can deny his courage in carrying the banner of his positions and attempting to influence an entire generation. His name will remain associated with the activist who paid with his life for his audacity in supporting what he considered to be truth and righteousness.
